Bustle Back Pack | Me Sew Crazy
My niece Mia has started kindy, and I tell you what, finding a backpack for her was a challenge. It seems that trademarked characters have a monopoly on backpacks. And the ones that didn’t have a cartoon character on them were truly hideous. Now this is a backpack that both my sister and Mia would love - and no one else at kindy would have it (oh this old thing? Just something I had made especially for me - couture back pack you know!)

DIY Shift Dress | Martha Stewart
I can’t really wear dresses like this… big boobs are my misfortune. For serious, don’t ever be sad about small boobs, they are my envy! And don’t get me started on strapless bras for bigger chested gals. Do the people who make these know that corset torture went out in the 1800’s?! I feel like Scarlett getting roped in whenever I put those things on. So even though I love these dresses, I also love being able to breath. That wins out every time.
OK, enough about boobs. This is such a gorgeous dress and perfect for those summer days when it’s so hot that you feel like your shoes are going to melt. Actually it was so hot one day that my shoes did melt. Don’t wear cheap plastic shoes if you’re going to be walking on hot roads. Just FYI.
Wow this little piece is going way off the rails. So I’m going to finish it up quickly by saying: nice dress, pretty, easy to make, you should make it.

Paper Peonies | Martha Stewart
I love having flowers around my house…and so does my cat Sophie. In fact, she loves to nibble on anything grass or flower related! She doesn’t get to go outside here in the city because a) I don’t want any of the native fauna to be attacked by her (or attack her!) and b) she has a habit of making a run for it when she’s outside. So yes, any flowers inside are her joy! But I’m scared about her getting sick from snacking on flowers so I like to have faux flowers. And these aren’t creepy plasticy like faux flowers can be.
Also it means she won’t be knocking over vases filled with water. She always has fresh water (in more than one place!) but once I witnessed her picking flowers out of a vase with her paw and drinking the water. Cats are weird.
